What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar cards of the applicant and of the family members counted (photocopies)
- Proof of the family's income for the last financial year: salary certificates or slips, pension papers, income-tax returns or Form 16; for farming, the jamabandi (fard)
- Papers of the land and houses the family owns, or the Patwari's report on them
- A record showing your caste or community, such as the school leaving certificate
- In Haryana, the Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra) number; and two passport-size photographs
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, then filed with the application for the income and asset certificate at the Sewa Kendra (Punjab), a Saral Kendra or the Saral portal (Haryana) or a Sampark centre (Chandigarh). The Patwari reports on it and the revenue officer, usually the Tehsildar, issues the certificate.
Fee
The service centre's fee, the e-Stamp paper and the Oath Commissioner's or Notary's fee are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Central Government jobs and admissions use the Central format; state jobs and admissions may use the state's own format and limits. Ask which one you need.
- The certificate goes by the last financial year's income; offices usually want one issued for the current year, so renew it every year.
- Count every family member and all property wherever it is; a certificate got by hiding income or property is cancelled.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
Chandigarh: e-stamp paper from an authorised centre (check the current duty); sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
