What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof (photocopy; the original to show)
- Proof of each income: salary certificate or slips, pension papers, income-tax returns or Form 16; for farming, the jamabandi (fard) and J-forms; for a business, its accounts or returns
- A list of the family members with their Aadhaar cards; in Haryana, the Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra) number
- The scholarship or scheme form that asks for the income certificate
- Two recent passport-size photographs
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, or made as a self-declaration where accepted, then filed with the application for the income certificate at the Sewa Kendra (Punjab), a Saral Kendra or the Saral portal (Haryana) or a Sampark centre (Chandigarh). The Patwari or another field officer verifies it, and the revenue officer, usually the Tehsildar, issues the certificate.
Fee
The service centre's fee, the e-Stamp paper and the Oath Commissioner's or Notary's fee are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Count the income of every member the scheme counts; a certificate got on a false figure is cancelled and the benefit recovered.
- An income certificate is usually valid only for a limited time; ask the office how long, and renew it for each new application.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
Chandigarh: e-stamp paper from an authorised centre (check the current duty); sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
