What to bring
Papers to bring
- Identity proof, PAN card and address proof of the student and of the co-borrower
- The admission letter and the fee schedule of the institution for the whole course
- The student's marksheets (matriculation, 10+2, graduation, and any entrance or language test result)

- Bank statements of the last six months, and the property papers if the bank wants security

Where to go
The student and the co-borrower both sign before an Oath Commissioner or Notary; it then goes to the bank branch with the loan application. Many banks have their own format: use it if they give one.
Fee
The e-Stamp paper and the attestation fee are paid at the counter; the bank's own charges, if any, are separate. Ask for today's amounts.
Good to know
- The co-borrower is fully liable for the loan together with the student, and the loan shows in the credit records of both.
- Tell the bank of every change of course, college or address, each year's result and the first job, as the affidavit promises.
- Ask the bank about any interest subsidy scheme you may qualify for, and the income certificate it needs.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
