What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof (photocopy; the original to show)
- A recent copy of the jamabandi (fard) of the land, from the Fard Kendra or the Patwari
- The field map (aks shajra) showing where the tube-well will be, if the utility asks
- The co-sharers' written consent, each with an identity proof, if the land is joint
- The utility's application form and the test report of a licensed electrical contractor, as it asks
- Any groundwater permission the area needs, and the bills of any other connection in your name
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, then filed with the application at the utility's sub-division office (PSPCL in Punjab; UHBVN or DHBVN in Haryana), or online where it takes applications. Connections are released under the utility's own rules and order of priority.
Fee
The utility charges its application fee, security deposit and connection charges as its current rules fix; the e-Stamp paper and the attestation fee are paid at the counter. Ask for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Some areas restrict new tube-wells or need a separate groundwater permission; check with the utility and the agriculture office first.
- Keep the application receipt and number safe: agricultural connections are usually released in order of the application date.
- Use only the sanctioned load, on your own land; a bigger motor or supply to others can lead to disconnection, as the affidavit says.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
