What to bring
Papers to bring
- Identity proof of the student and of the parent or guardian (photocopies)
- The admission letter or fee receipt, with the course, the year and the enrolment or registration number
- The student's e-mail ID and mobile number, for the online undertaking
- The college's own format, if it gives one
Where to go
Many institutions now accept the undertaking made online on the UGC anti-ragging website (antiragging.in), which is e-mailed to the student. Where the college wants a sworn affidavit, the student and the parent sign it before an Oath Commissioner or Notary and give it at admission.
Fee
The online undertaking is free. For a sworn copy, the e-Stamp paper and the attestation fee are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Both the student and the parent or guardian must sign; many institutions ask for it again at the start of every academic year.
- Keep a copy: the hostel may ask for its own undertaking as well.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
