What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar cards of the bride and of the parent or guardian making the affidavit (photocopies; the originals to show)
- Proof of the bride's age, such as the matriculation or birth certificate, and the groom's age proof
- The caste or category certificate, proof of the family income (an income certificate if you have one) and proof of residence in Punjab
- The wedding card, or the marriage certificate if the marriage has taken place
- The first page of the passbook of the account named for the payment; it usually has to be linked with Aadhaar
- Passport-size photographs, as the form asks
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, or made as a self-declaration where the office accepts it, then filed with the Ashirwad application at the Sewa Kendra, or online where the scheme's portal takes it. The district welfare office checks it before the payment.
Fee
There is no fee for the scheme itself. The e-Stamp paper, the attestation fee and the Sewa Kendra's service fee, if any, are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Apply in good time: the scheme takes applications only within a fixed period around the marriage date, and it limits the income and the number of daughters helped. The Sewa Kendra tells you the current rules.
- On the marriage date the bride must be at least 18 and the groom at least 21; the age proofs must show it.
- The names in the Aadhaar cards, the bank account and the certificates should match; correct any difference before applying.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
