What to bring
Papers to bring
- Your Aadhaar card, and your PAN card if you have one (photocopies; the originals to show)
- A recent copy of the jamabandi (fard) of every khewat, from the Fard Kendra or the Patwari, and the mutation if the land came to you recently
- The khasra girdawari (crop record) of the recent harvests, if the office or embassy asks for it
- J-forms or sale slips from your commission agent (arhtiya) for each year; if the land is on lease, the lease (theka) agreement and its receipts
- The bank statement or passbook showing the crop or lease payments, and your income-tax returns if you file them
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary (a visa file usually wants a Notary), then given to the bank, college or office with the land papers, or added to the visa file. Some offices also want the Patwari's report or an income certificate from the tehsil.
Fee
The e-Stamp paper and the attestation fee are paid at the counter, and the Fard Kendra or tehsil charges its own fee for each jamabandi copy. Ask for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Keep every figure the same as in the J-forms, the bank statement and any income-tax return: banks and visa officers compare them.
- In a jointly held khewat, write only your own share, as the jamabandi shows it.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
