What to bring
Papers to bring
- An identity proof that carries your signature, such as the PAN card or passport (photocopy; the original to show)
- Copies of the records that show each signature: the bank's specimen card or a cheque, PAN, passport or others
- The bank's or office's own form for a change of signature, if it has one
- Two recent passport-size photographs
Where to go
Signed before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, who attests the specimen signatures made in front of them, then given to the bank branch or office. Banks often also want you to sign once more in front of a branch officer.
Fee
The e-Stamp paper and the Oath Commissioner's or Notary's fee are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Sign the specimens only in front of the Oath Commissioner or Notary, not beforehand.
- From now on keep to one signature, and update the PAN, bank and other records to it.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
Chandigarh: e-stamp paper from an authorised centre (check the current duty); sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
