1.That I have applied for the renewal of my arms licence.
2.That I have not been convicted of any offence, no criminal case is pending against me, and I am not prohibited from holding arms under the Arms Act, 1959.
3.That I am of sound mind and good health, and I do not hold any other arms licence except as disclosed in my application.

What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar card and voter card, as proof of identity and address (photocopies; the originals to show)
- Proof of age, such as the matriculation certificate: the applicant must be at least 21
- A medical fitness certificate from a government doctor; in Punjab, usually also a dope test report from a government hospital
- A certificate of training in the safe handling of arms, if the office asks for it
- For a renewal or an addition: the original licence and the details of each weapon on it
- Two recent passport-size photographs
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, then filed with the application to the licensing authority: usually the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner), or the Commissioner of Police in a police commissionerate. In Punjab the application usually goes through the Sewa Kendra. The police verify the applicant before a decision.
Fee
The licence fee (different for a new licence, a renewal and an addition) is paid as the office tells you; the e-Stamp paper and the attestation fee are paid at the counter. Ask for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Before signing, tell the lawyer about every criminal case ever registered against you: the police verification will show it, and a false statement can lead to refusal or cancellation.
- Apply for the renewal before the licence expires: keeping arms on an expired licence can be an offence.
- Since the Arms Act was amended in 2019, one person may hold at most two firearms; an addition beyond that is not allowed.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
Chandigarh: e-stamp paper from an authorised centre (check the current duty); sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
