Sir/Madam,
Under instructions from and on behalf of my client, Neha Verma wife of Shri Anil Verma, aged about 28 years, resident of House No. 204, Sector 9, Shantipur, District Shantipur, Haryana, I hereby serve you with the following legal notice:
1.That my client was your tenant in Flat No. 2, Sector 9, Shantipur and paid you a refundable security deposit of ₹40,000 (Rupees Forty Thousand only).

What to bring
Papers to bring
- The rent agreement showing the deposit, and the receipt or bank record of paying it
- Proof of handing over: the key-handover message or receipt, final meter readings and dated photographs of the premises
- The last rent receipts and the paid bills (electricity, water, maintenance)
- The landlord's full name and address
Where to go
Signed by you, or by your advocate for you, and sent by registered post with acknowledgment due (AD) or speed post to every address of the other side that you know; e-mail or WhatsApp can be added.
Fee
No stamp paper or court fee is needed for a notice: you pay the postage, and the advocate's fee if an advocate sends it.
Good to know
- Keep the photographs and messages from the day you left: they answer claims of damage.
- If the deposit is still not paid, a suit can follow: see "Suit for recovery of money (ordinary, or summary under Order XXXVII)".
- Keep the postal receipts, the tracking report and the AD card or the returned envelope (unopened): a later case needs them to prove the notice.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Plain paper is enough.
