By Registered A.D. / Speed Post
To,
Shri Kabir Sharma
House No. 7, Basant Vihar, Amarnagar, Tehsil and District Amarnagar, Punjab
Subject: Deficiency in service regarding a double-door refrigerator
Sir/Madam,
Under instructions from and on behalf of my client, Asha Rani wife of Shri Rohan Kumar, aged about 34 years, resident of House No. 12, Street No. 3, Nanak Nagar, Amarnagar, Tehsil and District Amarnagar, Punjab, I hereby serve you with the following legal notice:
1.That my client bought a double-door refrigerator from you on 14-07-2026 and paid ₹38,500 (Rupees Thirty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred only).
2.That it stopped cooling within three weeks, and the mechanic sent by you twice could not repair it.
3.That despite complaints, you have not set this right. This is a deficiency in service and an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
4.That you are called upon to replace the refrigerator or refund its price within 15 days of receiving this notice, failing which a complaint will be filed against you before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for that relief, compensation for harassment, and costs.

What to bring
Papers to bring
- The bill or invoice and the proof of payment
- The warranty card, job sheets, complaint numbers, and e-mails or messages with the seller or service centre
- Photographs or reports showing the defect or the deficiency
- The seller's or company's full name and address (the registered office, if known)
Where to go
Signed by you, or by your advocate for you, and sent by registered post with acknowledgment due (AD) or speed post to every address of the other side that you know; e-mail or WhatsApp can be added.
Fee
No stamp paper or court fee is needed for a notice: you pay the postage, and the advocate's fee if an advocate sends it.
Good to know
- A consumer complaint is due within two years of the cause of action and can be filed online on the e-Daakhil portal: see "Consumer complaint to the District Commission (s.35)".
- You can file and argue a consumer complaint yourself, without an advocate.
- Keep the postal receipts, the tracking report and the AD card or the returned envelope (unopened): a later case needs them to prove the notice.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Plain paper is enough.
