What to bring
Papers to bring
- A copy of the person's Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof
- A recent photograph of the person
- Their permanent address, and the name and phone number of a reference there, as the police form asks
- Your own identity proof and, for a tenant, a copy of the rent agreement
Where to go
Given at the police station of the area where the person lives or works with you, at a Saanjh Kendra in Punjab, or through the state police's online service. The police check with the station of the permanent address.
Fee
Usually no fee, or the service fee the state fixes; ask at the counter or see the portal.
Good to know
- District orders usually require it before or soon after the person starts; keep the receipt in case of a police check.
- Keep only copies of the person's papers, never the originals, and tell the police when the person leaves.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
