Sir/Madam,
1.That on 10-10-2026 at about 8:30 pm, at near the bus stand, Amarnagar, my mobile phone and wallet with ₹4,500 were snatched at knife-point.
2.That the above acts were done by two unknown young men on a black motorcycle.
3.That these acts disclose cognizable offences. It is requested that an FIR be registered under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the matter be investigated, and a free copy of the FIR be given to the applicant.

What to bring

- Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof (photocopy; the original to show)
- Copies of the evidence: photographs, videos, messages, bills, and a medical report if you were hurt
- Names and addresses of the accused, if known, and of the witnesses
- A second copy of this complaint, to be stamped as received for your record
Where to go
Given to the SHO of the police station of the area; any police station must take it and send it on (a "zero FIR") if the place is elsewhere. Information can also be given electronically, but it must then be signed within three days.
Fee
There is no fee for giving a complaint to the police.
Good to know
- Ask for a free copy of the FIR or, if no FIR is registered yet, a receipt or DDR number for your complaint.
- For offences punishable with three to seven years, the police may first hold a preliminary enquiry, within fourteen days (s.173(3) BNSS).
- If the SHO does not register an FIR, write to the SP: see "Complaint to the SP/SSP when the FIR is not registered (s.173(4) BNSS)".
- State only what you know yourself, with dates and places: a false complaint or affidavit is itself an offence.
