What to bring
Papers to bring
- Your identity proof (photocopy, signed by you), to go with the letter
- The authorised person's identity proof: the original to show at the counter and a photocopy
- The papers the task needs, such as the passbook, receipt, token or form
Where to go
Signed by you; the person authorised signs the specimen at the bottom and takes it to the office or bank, which checks the signature against the identity proof.
Fee
Plain paper is enough: no stamp paper and no fee.
Good to know
- Banks often have their own authority form, and some tasks, such as closing an account, need you in person; ask first.
- Write one clear task; for a continuing power over property or money, use "Special power of attorney".
- You are responsible for what the person does under it; keep a copy.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Plain paper is enough.
