This settlement deed is made and executed at Amarnagar on 12 October 2026 by and between:
Vikram Singh son of Shri Harbans Singh, aged about 52 years, resident of House No. 45, Gulab Colony, Amarnagar, Tehsil and District Amarnagar, Punjab (hereinafter called the "FIRST PARTY", which expression shall, unless repugnant to the context, include his heirs, legal representatives and assigns) of the FIRST PART.
AND
Kabir Sharma son of Shri Dev Sharma, aged about 44 years, resident of House No. 7, Basant Vihar, Amarnagar, Tehsil and District Amarnagar, Punjab (hereinafter called the "SECOND PARTY", which expression shall, unless repugnant to the context, include his heirs, legal representatives and assigns) of the SECOND PART.
NOW THIS DEED WITNESSETH AND THE PARTIES HEREBY AGREE AS UNDER:

What to bring
Papers to bring
- Identity proof of both parties (photocopies; the originals to show)
- Papers of the dispute: notices, complaints, agreements or bills, and, if a case is pending, its number, court and next date
- Proof of any money paid under the settlement: the bank transfer record, cheque or draft
- Two witnesses, often the relatives or friends who helped settle it, each with an identity proof
Where to go
Signed by both parties before two witnesses, usually on e-Stamp paper of the value the state fixes for an agreement; notarising it is optional. If a case is pending, the compromise is also filed in that court to be recorded (Order XXIII Rule 3 CPC).
Fee
The e-Stamp duty follows the state's schedule for agreements; ask the e-Stamp centre for today's amount.
Good to know
- For a pending case, file the compromise with both parties present (see "Joint compromise statement"); the court records it and disposes of the case.
- A settlement does not end a criminal case by itself: only some offences can be compounded, and others need the court's or the High Court's order.
- Pay by bank transfer or draft and get a receipt (see "Full and final settlement receipt"); if land or a house changes hands, that needs its own registered deed.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Deeds and agreements carry stamp duty that depends on the state, the document and its value; some must be registered with the Sub-Registrar. Check the current duty and registration rules before printing on stamp paper.
