PUBLIC NOTICE

Asha Rani
House No. 12, Street No. 3, Nanak Nagar, Amarnagar, Tehsil and District Amarnagar, Punjab
What to bring
Papers to bring
- The name-change affidavit: see "Affidavit for change of name"
- Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof (photocopy; the original to show)
- A record in the old name, so that both names are spelt exactly
Where to go
Published in two newspapers, usually one in English and one in the local language, that circulate where you live; then given with the affidavit to the passport office or other offices, and sent for the Gazette when an office asks.
Fee
The newspaper charges for the space; ask its advertisement office or an agent for today's rate. No stamp paper is needed.
Good to know
- Write the old and new names exactly as in the affidavit: a spelling difference can make an office refuse it.
- For central records the Gazette of India is often asked for: see "Request to publish a change of name in the Gazette of India".
- Keep the full newspaper pages, with the paper's name and date, not only the cutting: offices often ask to see them.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Plain paper is enough.
