What to bring
Papers to bring
- Your Aadhaar card and PAN card (photocopies; the originals to show)
- Statements or passbooks of your bank accounts, if the office asks
- A no-dues certificate from each bank or society for any loan you have closed
- Your credit report (such as CIBIL), if the bank or office asks for it
- The form or letter that asks for this affidavit
Where to go
Sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary, then given to the bank, co-operative society, office or tehsil that asked for it, for example for a loan, a contract, a licence or an allotment.
Fee
The e-Stamp paper and the Oath Commissioner's or Notary's fee are paid at the counter; ask there for today's amounts.
Good to know
- Check your credit report before you sign: a forgotten loan, credit-card due or guarantee will show there, and the affidavit says you have none.
- Guarantees count too: the affidavit also says you have not stood surety for any outstanding loan.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Punjab: affidavits are usually typed on e-stamp paper (buy it at an authorised e-stamp centre; check the current duty there) and sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary. Many state services now accept a self-declaration instead.
Haryana: use e-stamp paper (egrashry / authorised vendors; check the current duty) and swear before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
Chandigarh: e-stamp paper from an authorised centre (check the current duty); sworn before an Oath Commissioner or Notary.
