What to bring
Papers to bring
- Aadhaar card or another photo identity proof (photocopy; the original to show)
- The court, the case number and year (for a new case, the court and the other party's name) and the next date
- For a company, firm or society: the resolution or authority letter of the person signing
Where to go
You sign it and your advocate accepts it; it is filed in the court with the first paper, with the advocates' welfare stamp put on as the bar's rules require.
Fee
The welfare stamp, and court fee where the court's rules ask for it, are bought at the court or bar association counter; the advocate's fee is separate.
Good to know
- Every party who appoints the advocate signs, at each place marked.
- To change your advocate later, take a no-objection from the first advocate, or ask the court's permission.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Court fee and welfare stamps, where needed, are affixed as the court office directs.
