What to bring
Papers to bring
- Every document to be filed, in the order of the index, marked as annexures and page-numbered
- Certified copies where a document is a court order or a public record, such as a jamabandi or a registered deed
- For the list of dates: each event with its date, in order, taken from your papers
- One extra set for each party on the other side
Where to go
Placed on top of the filing and handed in by your advocate at the court's filing counter with the main paper; it is not sworn.
Fee
The index itself needs no stamp or court fee; any court fee goes on the main paper, as the counter assesses.
Good to know
- Number the pages continuously; the annexure marks and page numbers in the index must match the papers.
- Keep the list of dates short and true to the documents: the court often reads it first.
Papers and fees can change. Check with the office before you go. Guidance only, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.
Stamp paper
Court fee and welfare stamps, where needed, are affixed as the court office directs.
